Neurodiversity In Education: Inclusive Practice

We invite you to join us in Kilkenny on Friday 22nd March 2024 for Ireland’s inaugural Neurodiversity in Education Conference.

This year, we are placing a keen focus on “Inclusive Practice”, encouraging a more collaborative and understanding approach in education.

Understanding Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is a concept that acknowledges the wide range of cognitive variations amongst individuals. It encourages us to appreciate the different ways people perceive and navigate the world. By fostering a deeper understanding and respect for these variations, we aim to diminish barriers and facilitate more harmonious interactions between neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals.

We are using this term now to help remove the barriers between neurodivergent individuals and neurotypical individuals. So, we are all one and the same – just people with unique brains!

Neurodivergent people make up approximately 15% to 20% (one in five) of the global population, while some put the number closer to 30% to 40% due to significant rates of underdiagnosis.

The time for inclusion is now.

Conference Aim: Fostering Holistic Support and Positive Change for Neurodivergent Students of all Ages

Welcome to an extraordinary event designed to catalyze transformation and ignite positive change in the lives of neurodivergent students. Our conference brings together a diverse array of speakers from an array of disciplines and backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to a holistic approach in meeting the unique needs of these exceptional individuals – whether you’re involved personally or professionally.

At the heart of our conference lies a resounding dedication to inclusivity and empowerment. We understand that supporting neurodiverse students necessitates a comprehensive perspective that draws from a multitude of fields. From neuroscientists to educators, from mental health experts to parents and neurodivergent adults, and those with lived experience, our speakers encompass the full spectrum of expertise needed to create an impactful dialogue.

The core of our event is not only knowledge-sharing but also actionable insights. Our workshops are designed to equip you with practical key takeaways that can be seamlessly integrated into your practice. Whether you’re a parent seeking effective strategies, an early years educator fostering early development, or a professional in mainstream or special education, our workshops are tailored to empower you with tools that make a difference.

But our aspirations extend far beyond the conference venue. We envision a future where colleges, schools, preschools, and households are transformed into nurturing environments for neurodiverse children. To manifest this vision, we have brought together professionals with varied expertise under one roof, providing a platform for information, education, assistance, and support. By facilitating these invaluable interactions, we are paving the way for collaborative efforts that can revolutionize the landscape of support and understanding.

Join us on this transformative journey where knowledge meets action, where collaboration sparks change, and where inclusivity flourishes. Together, let’s create a world where every individual not only thrives but also shines with their unique brilliance. Welcome to a conference that is more than an event – it’s a catalyst for a brighter future.

“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success” – Edward Everett Hale.
